Olga Kurylenko
Olga Kurylenko, whilst filming the thriller <i>Hitman, famously sent her body double away to perfom in the pole dancing scene herself. For Olga is a seasoned lingerie model, who has no qualms about portraying a very sexy image for the camera.
Born in Berdyansk, a small seaside town in Ukraine, Olga was brought up by her mother, after her father left just after she was born. Olga and her mother shared a small state appartment with several relations, and sometimes it was hard to make ends meet. But her mother, a talented art teacher, instilled in the small girl a love of the arts, sending her to ballet and piano lessons. At the age of 13, Olga and her mother went on a trip to Moscow. Waiting for a underground train in a subway station, the pair were taken back with surprise when a woman, claiming to be a modeling scount, approached them to say that Olga may have a great future in modelling. Olga’s mom was at first suspicious of the woman’s motives, but after making further investigations discovered that the scout was a genuine agency representative.
Following this, Olga moved to Moscow to start a career in modeling. From the very start she picked up work easily, appearing in several local shopping catalogues. 3 years into working as a model, Olga determined that she was ready to move on, and contacted the Madison modeling agency in Paris.
Olga was successful in securing work in France, and her modeling career went from strength to strength. On a personal note, a year after arriving in Paris she married a Frenchman. The marriage faltered after only four years, but Olga did have the consolation of a learning excellent French, and picking up a French passport. On the modeling scene Olga made quite a splash, appearing for well-know designers including Bebe, Valentino, Sisley and Helena Rubenstein.
One day in 2003 Olga met with a French movie agency. The move from modeling to acting is fraught with difficulties (the major one of which is many models cannot act), but Olga has a natural style with great screen charisma.
Her first major part came in the 2005 film L’Annulaire, in which Olga play a woman having a very sexual relationship with her manager at work. Next came a fleeting appearance in just the opening scene of Le Serpent (2006), where Olga appears bound and naked. Thankfully she succeeded in playing more than one scene in Hitman (2007), as a sexy, sassy accomplice of a trained killer. In 2008 Olga made her biggest entrance yet, as the bond girl Camille in Quantum of Solace.
